On October 11th, the students in grade four had the wonderful opportunity to explore a new part of this beautiful and diverse country. Piling into the bus one chilly Tuesday morning, the students couldn't contain their excitement. As we made our way to Valle de Bravo the students met their counselors, sang songs and took in the scenery. When we arrived at the camp, ensconced in a green canopy of pine forest, we all immediately rushed to see our cabins. Caroline, Soco, and Dave got to walk around the camp checking with each group and making sure they were settling in comfortably. Once everything was in its place, we went on a tour of the vast variety of facilities camp Nature has to offer: a volleyball court and football field, a zip line and souvenir shop, the dining hall and multipurpose halls, a jacuzzi and mini golf court, the vegetable garden and stables, and an immense area of forest to explore.
From then on, the activities and excitement never ceased. We ate at the dining hall from a delightful and abundant buffet which offered balanced meals that we all could enjoy. Despite a few rainy days, we played constantly, challenging ourselves to take risks, expand our relationships with our peers and stop to reflect on our experiences. We woke up each morning having learned more about ourselves. We were constantly struck by our curiosity regarding the flora and fauna of this vibrant place and made a variety inquiries and observations about the natural world surrounding us. In their groups, students joined together in their creativity to create plays that were performed by to warmth of a giant campfire and to invent chants to encourage one another.
Between a Rambo Expedition, Bungee jumping, Mission Impossible, Quad-riding, Disco night, Paintball, Horseback riding, and Archery, there was constant challenge and constant excitement. Thank you Camp Nature for such a wonderful experience!
