SCHOOL PHILOSOPHY
The
School’s Mission
The Lancaster School
is a bi-cultural school which, by combining characteristics of both Mexican
and British educational styles in a single programme of study leading to
certification in both systems, taught by teachers from both countries, aims
to form thinking, sensitive, self-reliant individuals who, as a result of
constant exposure to a mixture of cultural stimuli, have an appreciation and
awareness of cultural differences and an ability to adapt to and benefit from
cultural change and diversity. Aims
Within its role of
contributing to the formation of a more just society, condeming
discrimination on racial, cultural, religious, political and social grounds,
and recognising the human rights of all individuals and peoples, the
Lancaster School places prime importance on responsibility, respect, honesty,
tolerance, co-operation and loyalty and seeks to allow pupils the opportunity
to develop their intellectual, social, artistic and physical abilities to the
full, for the benefit of all. Objectives
In order to prepare
pupils adequately for the challenges of university study and life in general,
the school purports to: 1 Provide pupils with the specific skills
and knowledge required by society, and in particular employers and
universities, in order to meet and adapt to the ever changing challenges of
society and the world 2 Encourage an appreciation of the value
of learning and developing one's potential to the full 3 Encourage social integration in order to
develop the capacity to communicate with and relate positively to others,
appreciating and respecting their views, values, opinions and rights 4 Assist the development of self-esteem
and autonomy with a view to forming sensitive, well-balanced,
self-disciplined, morally responsible individuals able to meet the challenges
demanded by the different rôles within society 5 Provide pupils with effective oral and
written communication skills in both English and Spanish 6 Encourage the development of critical
thinking skills 7 Foster creativity and originality 8 Cover a wide range of areas of human
knowledge whilst allowing specialisation in some 9 Meet internationally recognised
educational standards 10 Provide opportunities for all to develop artistic

full. TO ACHIEVE OUR PURPOSE WE WILL VALUE AT ALL TIMES RESPECT for

our environment, and places of work and study and TOLERANCE for
individuality, difference of opinion and the right to free speech assuming RESPONSIBILITY for our words
