Grade 5 Spanish Teacher
Silvia

Grade 5 English Teacher
Sam
I have experienced a lot of firsts this year, it is my first time working in a school outside the United Kingdom and it is my first time experiencing Mexico. Prior to moving here I worked in a large primary school on the south coast of England. I have taught for one year in year 4 (grade 3) and year 5 (grade 4) classes.
In England I have never lived far from the sea, so moving inland is also new to me. My house and where I grew up was in a small town called Lee-on-the-Solent, situated between the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton. I went to University at King Alfred´s College in Winchester where I studied Psychology and Philosophy of Education. Following this I completed my PGCE teaching qualification.
When I am not at school teaching grade five I enjoy playing football, cricket and practicing Chinese kung fu. I am yet to see much of Mexico City but am very much looking forward to exploring all it has to offer.

What we have been learning:

English Support Teacher
Ruth
I joined Lancaster School in 2005 and enjoyed a year of teaching Grade 5. I currently teach ESL in Grades 3 and 4 as well as giving Maths support in Grade 3 to 5. During my ESL time, the children consolidate their grammatical, spelling and comprehension skills. We use a range of material including the Selections programme. I also teach Art to all Primary Grades.

What we are learning:
Students are working towards their exhibition
in groups with diffferent mentors. The central
ideas are based on areas of interest the
students identified earlier on in the year.
The organising theme is “Humanity a
shared reality.”
Students will be working independently on researching questions they have created. They will then present their findings at the end of June
