Grade 3 Spanish Teacher Laura ¡Hola! Me llamo Laura Valencia Arenas. Tengo dos lindos hijos que se llaman Sandra y Rodrigo. Soy profesora normalista y complemente mi formación con la Licenciatura de Pedagogía para ampliar mi visión educativa. He logrado hermosas y profundas experiencias profesionales al desempeñarme en los diferentes niveles desde Preescolar hasta Licenciatura. Estoy convencida de la importancia de favorecer en los educandos vivencias significativas a lo largo de su desarrollo, de la relevancia de un ambiente alegre y divertido para generar aprendizajes y de la premisa que contempla que solo al hacer crecer a otros se promueve tu propio crecimiento. ¡Me siento contenta de contar con la oportunidad de compartir con la comunidad de Lancaster su modelo educativo!

Grade 3 English Teacher Olwen My name is Olwen Kelly, I have been teaching for over 32 years in the primary department, and in that time have worked throughout the various grades. I worked in a large ESL school in Oldham near Manchester. My philosophy for teaching is that children should enjoy their school life and build the skills for life long learning, which fits very closely with the work at Lancaster School and the PYP. I am continuing to enjoy working with the children at Rey Yupanki. And I’d like to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome.

What we are learning: Dear Parents, We are now moving into our second Inquiry and we are very excited because we are linking with a school in Brixton London. The inquiry is called ‘My City’ and as the title implies we are looking at Mexico City. In the English classroom we are focusing on myths, legends and stories about the city and places close by. They will then animate these stories and make short films to show you during the Academic Fair but also to send to the school in London. In mathematics during these 6 weeks we will continue to work on addition and subtraction but we will also move to multiplication. En Español, con organización similar a Inglés,  continuaremos avanzando en habilidades lógico-matemáticas, así como en la estructuración de textos cuidando la puntuación y la ortografía, a través del manejo de  información histórico-geográfica relevante, pasada y actual,  sobre nuestra ciudad para desarrollar habilidades sociales y de investigación.  Trabajaremos con los Conceptos de Cambio, Causa y Perspectiva con los Conceptos relacionados de Crecimiento, Adaptación, Impacto, Verdad y Subjetividad.
