Making a difference for our children
.. |
The Children’s University is a fascinating project and, I believe, shows great potential in Mexico. It is exciting to see that through minimal additional investment we can do so much more for our future and our society. Giving children this opportunity will make a real difference in their, as well as Mexico’s, future. I am really confident that through this project, Lancaster School will demonstrate that schools can make a difference beyond their traditional mission and help more children become better citizens with greater opportunities. This initiative lends itself to easy replication in other schools (both private and public) around the city, reaching more children and involving more people.

Welcome to the Children’s University in Mexico, designed to embrace all of the learning opportunities made available to children that take place outside the statutory school curriculum. The purpose of the Children’s University in Mexico is to provide a range of learning experiences that can bring all children into contact with their wider community and engage their interest in learning beyond the school day.
The Children’s University in Mexico is modeled upon, and affiliated to the Wrexham Children’s University, a partnership between the Department of Education and the North East Wales Institute for Higher Education (University of Wales).
The philosophy and operating procedures for the Children’s University in Mexico recognizes the central role that schools have in the development of young peoples’ learning. Close links have been forged between education providers to provide a range of learning experiences that will encourage young people to remain active learners, aware of the opportunities available to them now and in the future. Promoting learning engagement in this manner will ensure that the term ‘Lifelong Learning’ becomes a reality for young people in Mexico.
